The Democrat party swept the Georgia runoff election, after Democrat Jon Ossoff was declared the winner Wednesday of the second of Georgia's two hotly contested Senate seats, defeating Republican incumbent David Perdue.

Tuesday Night, Democrat challenger Raphael Warnock was declared the winner against Republican incumbent Kelly Loeffler for the other seat.

The two Georgia Senatorial races have been put under a magnifying glass, following the contested 2020 Presidential election. The balance of power was contingent on these two races and the Democrats have now successfully gained control of the United States Senate.

Chuck Schumer will replace Republican Mitch McConnell as Senate Majority Leader.

President-elect Biden has been a cheerleader for the Democrat candidates, visiting the state to campaign alongside them. He asserted that he requires both these senate seats, otherwise the balance of power continues to lean towards Republican, which could prevent Biden from passing his policies.

President Trump also visited the state, holding multiple rallies and promoting the two Republican candidates.
