The Erin O'Toole campaign has filed a formal complaint and has requested the RCMP, the OPP, and the Toronto Police service to investigate an alleged theft of data.

In an email sent to journalists at 10:40 PM EST, the O'Toole campaign accused a MacKay campaign organizer, Jamie Lall of thieving data from Zoom video conferences which included "confidential campaign strategy."

The O'Toole campaign has said that this complaint "comes after an in depth investigation [that] was launched by the the O'Toole campaign after we discovered our systems were hacked earlier this week."

"The investigation found that senior MacKay campaign organizer Mr. Lall obtained confidential O’Toole log-in information on June 5," said the email. "The O’Toole investigation found that the stolen downloads occurred over the past two weeks on June 5, 7, 8, 9 , 11 and 12 from both Calgary and Toronto."

"The O’Toole investigation was thorough and clinical and included data collection and in person interviews. All information obtained over the course of the investigation has been provided to the RCMP, OPP, and Toronto Police Service," the email continued.

The O'Toole campaign has called on the MacKay campaign "to to immediately return and delete any stolen data or videos currently in the possession of staff and volunteers."

"We further insist on swift cooperation from Mr. MacKay and his campaign with the RCMP, OPP, and Toronto Police Service and the immediate termination of all involved in this potentially criminal action from their campaign," the email concluded.

Speaking to the National Post, the MacKay campaign said that this accusation came "late on a Friday of a bad week for the O’Toole campaign."

"If someone from the O’Toole campaign leaked information, the O’Toole campaign should be talking to their volunteers. It is not surprising that this is a tactic being trotted out the same week that Erin O’Toole performed very poorly in the debates in front of Party members and Canadians."

Peter MacKay has not yet responded to The Post Millennial's request for a comment.

This is a breaking news story and will be updated.
