Erin O'Toole has responded to the prime minister's criticism of him, saying that he has "just spent more time attacking me and our policies. This is what he wasted time on last weekend."

O'Toole continued by saying that Trudeau "needs to focus on doing his job, we have a third wave with millions of Canadians in lockdowns because of his government's incompetent pandemic response."

Earlier on Friday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau attacked the Conservative Party's new climate plan, calling it a "more you burn, more you earn" approach.

"Canadians have been waiting a long time to see the Conservative Party take seriously the fight against climate change. Unfortunately, with what they put forward yesterday, Canadians are still gonna wait a long time."

Trudeau continued by saying, "the plan, the approach, the pamphlet, not the plan, that they put forward yesterday, actually makes it less expensive to pollute, makes it more expensive for Canadians, and will not fight climate change."

The prime minister ended the press conference by saying "with Erin O'toole's carbon tax, the more you burn, the more you earn. That doesn't make sense to anyone."
