Conservative Party leader Erin O'Toole and Canada's Conservatives have called on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to immediately fire his Minister of Defence Harjit Sajjan, following years of alleged mismanagement and coverups.

The Opposition leader threw down the gauntlet in the House of Commons Tuesday, stating that Sajjan's record as defence minister speaks for itself as he listed past controversies. The allegations accused Sajjan of having overstated his role in Canada's largest battle in Afghanistan, the failed prosecution of former vice-admiral Mark Norman, and the military's escalating sexual misconduct scandal. O'Toole also argued the military is falling apart under Sajjan's leadership.

O'Toole reiterated that Sajjan misled Canadians about his service, mismanaged the Canadian fighter jet fleet, and covered up the military's alleged sexual misconduct firestorm. "That's not the record of a Minister who can be trusted to implement the changes necessary to eliminate sexual misconduct in the military," the press statement declared. "Enough is enough. "The Defence Minister needs to do the right thing, and if he can't, the Prime Minister must fire him immediately."

"More scandals. More corruption. More cover-ups. That is what Canadians can expect from Justin Trudeau and the Liberals. There is only one choice to end their corruption and secure accountability in Ottawa—Canada's Conservatives."

Sajjan, who has served as Trudeau's only defence minister since 2015, countered that the Liberals would not take any lessons from the Conservatives when it comes to the military. He listed the Liberal government's investments in the military while insisting that he has handled all sexual misconduct allegations involving military personnel with appropriate measures, The Canadian Press reported.
