Police officers and multiple SWAT teams are on the scene of an active shooting situation in Pittsburgh in which "hundreds" of rounds of ammunition are being fired on a residential street, according to Daily Mail.

Residents of Pittsburgh's Garfield neighborhood have been warned to stay away from the N. Mathilda Street and 4800 block of Broad Street because of ongoing gunfire and to avoid looking out windows.

The gunman is thought to have barricaded himself in a home after police attempted to serve him with an eviction notice. When authorities opened the door the gunman reportedly opened fire, according to CBS News.

"This is an extremely active situation with shots continuing to be fired. Please avoid the area at this time," police warned residents.
