BREAKING POLL: 77% of Democrats back Biden DOJ's latest indictment of Trump, 52% of independents, 69% of Republicans are opposed

A new poll has revealed that while a majority of Democrats approve of the most recent indictment of 2024 GOP frontrunner Donald Trump, the majority of Republicans and independent voters do not. The poll also found that the majority of voters believe the Supreme Court will rule the most recent indictment is unconstitutional.

The poll, conducted by Rasmussen Reports, found that 77 percent of Democrats approve of the most recent indictment of Trump on "conspiracy" charges for his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election, including 64 percent who said they strongly approve of the action.

69 percent of Republican voters disapprove, including 61 percent who said they strongly disapprove, as well as 52 percent of independents, 40 percent of which strongly disapproved.

Despite an overall majority, 51 percent, supporting the indictment of Trump, a majority of voters said they believed the Supreme Court would rule the new indictment is unconstitutional, at 59 percent.

49 percent of Democrats said it was very likely or somewhat likely the Supreme Court would rule as such, 70 percent of Republicans, and 59 percent of independents.

When asked whether they agree with the statement "the new indictment of Trump could not be more political … [It] targets political speech and characterizes it as a criminal activity," 56 percent said they somewhat or strongly agree.

The majority of Democrats, 56 percent, said they did not agree with the statement, while the majority of Republicans, 78 percent, and independents, 56 percent, agreed.

The survey was conducted on August 3 and between August 6 and 7 of 1,164 likely US voters.

Trump was arraigned in early August on four counts of "conspiracy" charges related to the aftermath of the 2020 election, including the Trump campaigns requests for recounts. Trump pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to defraud the government, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights, which were brought forth by Biden Special Counsel Jack Smith.

With the next hearing in the trial set for August 28, Trump and his team have demanded a change in venue from the DC court to one in neighboring West Virginia, as well as the recusal of Judge Tanya Chutkan from his case, stating that he would be unable to get a fair trial in an overwhelmingly Democrat city and by the judge, who is an Obama appointee and gave substantial contributions to his campaign.
