A medical unit was seen leaving the area with a police car. The incident took place as the agent was accompanying Biden through the airport. A USSS spokesman said that the officer is being treated at a local hospital and is in stable condition after the incident.
"The Secret Service's Office of Professional Responsibility will be reviewing the facts and circumstances of this incident," Secret Service spokesperson Nate Herring said. "We are grateful for our law enforcement and public safety partners who provided medical assistance."
A police cordon was outside Terminal C at the airport by the ticket station for American Airlines. The incident comes as there has been more scrutiny on the agency in recent years, much of is starting with security failures at President Donald Trump's rally in Butler where the president was shot while campaigning.
Recently, the agent that was faulted for the failures at the Butler shooting was suspended again. The agent allegedly did not report her relationship and marriage to a foreign national properly.
The suspension is the third one for the agent, Myosoty “Miyo” Perez, who was the "site agent" for the Butler event. Although she has remained as an agent in the agency, Perez has faced ongoing scrutiny from leadership. Perez married a foreign national from Brazil last April without notifying the agency. Internal personnel at USSS are working to see if the woman that Perez married was facing a deportation order.
