President Trump was whisked away from the podium by Secret Service during a press briefing after there was reported to be a shooting outside the White House.

After he was taken from the room, he returned to confirm that there had been a shots fired near the White House. Fox News' John Roberts reported that there were two shots in quick succession before the suspect was taken down by Secret Service.

That the suspect was shot by the Secret Service. Trump said that suspect was armed, and was taken to the hospital.

A reporter asked him if he was rattled. The president said he was not. "Do I look rattled?" he asked calmly. "I didn't even think about not coming back," Trump added.

Trump continued: "There was an actual shooting and somebody has been taken to the hospital, I don't know the condition of the person. Seems that the person was shot by the Secret Service. It's unfortunate that this is the world but the world has always been a dangerous place."

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
