BREAKING: Shots fired in Philadelphia during July 4 fireworks, reports of two cops shot

Videos of the shooting showed hundreds of people running from the scene as officers escorted people away from the area, while fireworks continued nearby.

Authorities are searching for the suspect who shot two police officers at a Fourth of July event in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Officials said that the shooting occurred at approximately 10 pm near the Parkway Welcome America Festival on the Ben Franklin Parkway.

According to Fox 29, one officer,44, who was shot in the shoulder was with the Montgomery County Bomb Unit and the other, who is a Philadelphia Police Highway Patrol officer, 36, suffered a graze wound to the head. Both officers were taken to Jefferson University Hospital in stable condition.

One of the officers who was shot found the bullet still lodged in his hat.

The outlet reported that approximately 100,000 people were in attendance at the event and are recommending that residents avoid the area. Residents looking to reunite with loved ones are being told to meet at 1901 Vine Street in front of the Free Library of Philadelphia.
