Actor Vincent Pastore has passed away at age 80. He built his career largely on mobster roles, with his most famous being Salvatore "Big Pussy" Bonpensiero on HBO's “The Sopranos.”
According to Deadline, a neighbor discovered him deceased at his home in the Bronx on Aug. 1, after having gone unheard from for three days. The details surrounding his death are now under investigation. Pastore, known for his mobster roles in various films, fought in the Vietnam war before he later graduated from Pace University with a drama degree.
Some of Pastore's other well-known roles include being a frequent guest star on “Law and Order,” parts for” Hawaii Five-O,” “Queens Supreme,” “Gravesend” and “Yellowjackets.” He also played mobster roles for "Goodfellas," "Carlito's Way," "Men of Respect," and "Witness to the Mob."
His role on "The Sopranos" led to him appearing in 30 episodes of the 7-season show. His character was a trusted member of the crew in the series, but is revealed to be an FBI informant and gets killed.
“Vinnie was a great guy, he would help anyone and was very charitable,” Pastore's longtime manager Bob McGowan said. He is survived by his daughter Renee.
He also competed on "Dancing with the Stars," but had to stop after one week on the program due to the physical demands of the competition. He has also competed on the "Celebrity Apprentice" when Trump was still hosting the show.
