UPDATE: Starbucks later claimed it did not ban any Pride displays and that the workers' claims are false.

Starbucks Workers United, a group that believes in forming unions under Starbucks along with demanding certain benefits from the coffee giant, made a series of furious posts to Twitter on Tuesday after the company reportedly made a sudden decision to remove all Pride decorations from its stores.

In an online post, the group lamented that stripping stores of "pride decorations" has become an "annual tradition," and that Starbucks took a cue from Target, which the organization claims "bowed to anti-LGBTQ+ pressure."

"Starbucks is powered by many queer workers, but management has failed to materially support the LGBTQ+ community," Starbucks Workers United complained in a continued thread. "Last October, some workers have reported that their transgender benefit plan changed, causing them to pay out of pocket fees and lose access to certain providers."

The group then claimed that a "true ally" would "stand up" for them, particularly in "a time when LGBTQ+ people are under attack."

Starbucks Workers United concluded its criticism of Starbucks by noting that if it truly cared for "allyship", it would negotiate "a union contract that legally locks-in our benefits, our freedom of expression, and ways to hold management accountable."

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
