BREAKING: Steve Bannon rails against Biden's DOJ after being ordered to jail: 'There is not a prison built that will ever shut me up'

Steve Bannon spoke out after he was ordered by a judge to report to federal prison on July 1. He was convicted on contempt of Congress charges for not immediately complying with a subpoena from the January 6 committee. Conservatives spoke out against the order immediately following the court appearance.

"I've got great lawyers and we'll go all the way to the Supreme Court if we have to," Bannon told reporters. "But I wanna say something specific about the Justice Department, Merrick Garland, Lisa Monaco, the entire Justice Department: They're not gonna shut up Trump, they're not gonna shut up Navarro, they're not gonna shut up Bannon, and they're certainly not gonna shut up MAGA."

"If you look right here, you reporters, in the two and a half or three years since we've been here, look at the rise of MAGA, look at the rise of Donald Trump—if the election was held today, according to Harry Enten at CNN, President Trump would win in a landslide.

"All of this," he continued, "except for the major legal issues that need to be addressed, all of this is about one thing: this is about shutting down the MAGA movement, shutting down grassroots conservatives, shutting down President Trump. Not only are we winning, but we are going to prevail, and every number and every poll shows that. 

"There is nothing that can shut me up and nothing that will shut me up. There is not a prison built or a jail built that will ever shut me up. All victory to MAGA, we're gonna win this, we're gonna win this at the Supreme Court, and more importantly we're gonna win on November 5 in an amazing landslide with the Senate, the House, and also Donald J. Trump back as President of the United States."

Bannon had been issued a subpoena in September 2021 to turn over all correspondence between himself and then-President Donald Trump both leading up to January 6, 2021, on that day, and afterward. The J6 committee, under then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and helmed by Democrat Bennie Thompson, sought to find evidence that Trump was responsible for the Capitol riot of January 6. 

Bannon told the committee that the correspondence was protected by executive privilege, which had been invoked by Trump. When Trump later revoked that privilege, allowing Bannon to comply, the committee insisted on moving forward with the contempt charges. 

At the time of the indictment, Garland said "Since my first day in office, I have promised Justice Department employees that together we would show the American people by word and deed that the department adheres to the rule of law, follows the facts and the law and pursues equal justice under the law. Today’s charges reflect the department’s steadfast commitment to these principles."

"As detailed in the indictment, on Sept. 23, 2021, the Select Committee issued a subpoena to Mr. Bannon,” said US Attorney for DC Matthew M. Graves. "The subpoena required him to appear and produce documents to the Select Committee, and to appear for a deposition before the Select Committee. According to the indictment, Mr. Bannon refused to appear to give testimony as required by subpoena and refused to produce documents in compliance with a subpoena."

Garland has recently refused to comply with House instructions to turn over audio recordings from an interview between President Joe Biden and special counsel Robert Hur in an investigation into whether Biden illegally hung onto classified documents to which he was not entitled after his time as Obama's VP. Hur determined that Biden was too old and sympathetic to stand trial for having illegally held onto those documents.
