An evacuation order has been issued at Utah State University after a suspicious package was found at the Old Main Building. The evacuation occurred just before 2:45 pm local time, per KUTV. The campus is scheduled to host a Turning Point event on Tuesday evening, though the package was found in a different area than the scheduled event.

Police were heard shouting "fire in the hole" before a detonation went off.

A campus alert stated, "An evacuation has been ordered for the Old Main building on Logan campus due to a suspicious package. Police are responding. Leave immediately using the nearest exit. Use stairs, not elevators. Take only essential items. Go to your department’s evacuation area if applicable."

Human Events senior editor Jack Posobiec reported, "I am told the suspicious package / threat at Utah State University is in a different building than the TPUSA event. TPUSA volunteers are currently setting up the event, which is proceeding as of this moment."

An all-clear message stated that the suspicious package was deemed to be a non-explosive device by authorities. "Out of an abundance of caution, the bomb squad detonated the suspicious device. Old Main Building is now clear and safe. All scheduled events may resume as normal.

Speaking at Tuesday evening’s event are Utah Governor Spencer Cox, Senator Mike Lee, Rep Andy Biggs, and for Rep Jason Chaffetz. The event marks the first Turning Point event in the state following founder Charlie Kirk’s assassination in early September. Kirk had been at Utah Valley University for the American Comeback Tour when he was shot in the neck. The suspect charged in the killing is Tyler Robinson.
