Chrystia Freeland announced during Question Period of Tuesday that the Budget 2021 would be released on April 19, 2021.

It has been over two years since a budget has been tabled, with the last taking place on March 19, 2019.

This drew heavy criticism from Opposition MPs, including former Shadow Finance Minister and current Shadow Minister for Jobs Pierre Poilievre, who posted a tongue-in-cheek celebration of the two-year anniversary.

Conservative Leader Erin O'Toole also referenced the lack of budget during his speech at the 2021 Conservative Convention.

The Parliamentary Budget Officer estimates that the deficit will likely rest at $382 billion, though it could balloon to $400 billion in response to changing health restrictions caused by changes to the COVID situation.

In regards to what the budget could entail, Canada's top brass announced that an all-woman "task force" would be launched to guarantee the coming budget would include measures to address what Trudeau himself called a "she-cession" (a portmanteau of 'she' and recession.)

The budget will likely also include billions in stimulus in an attempt to get Canada's economy rolling.
