2024 GOP frontrunner Donald Trump is reportedly considering a visit to Congress next week.

A Republican familiar with internal discussions revealed to Politico that Trump is open to pitching himself as a candidate for House Speaker.

The source said that Trump would speak to House GOP before the lawmakers’ internal speaker election, which is set to take place on Wednesday.

Kevin McCarthy was ousted as House Speaker on Tuesday, with 216 voting in favor of the motion to vacate.

McCarthy has said that he won’t run again, while Reps. Jim Jordan and Steve Scalise have sent letters to their colleagues announcing that they will run, and urging for their support.

Speaking in regards to the events, Trump said, "A lot of people have been calling me about Speaker."

"All I can say is we'll do whatever's best for the country and for the Republican Party ... We have some great great people."

When asked if he would take the job as speaker, Trump said, "A lot of people have asked me about it. We're leading by like 50 points for president, so my focus is totally on that. If I can help them during the process, I would do it, but we have some great people in the Republican Party that can do a great job as Speaker."

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
