A new national poll conducted by Premise Data revealed that voters prefer Trump over Biden in a hypothetical 2024 general election matchup.

Other national surveys have shown Trump and his successor neck and neck in a potential rematch, however recent events appear to have propelled the former president above his Democratic rival.

According to the poll, conducted between August 2 to 7, 41 percent of Americans said they would vote for Trump, compared to just 34 percent for Joe Biden. A full 25 percent said they were "not sure."

Within the Republican Party, Trump holds a commanding lead over his next closest competitor, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, with the two candidates sitting at 54 and 18 percent, respectively.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
