Elon Musk and Donald Trump joined together for a X spaces on Monday evening with the nominee hitting a range of topics. Trump recalled the assassination attempt, vowed to return to Bulter, Pennsylvania, and slammed Kamala Harris for making a “coup” to replace Biden. Trump has sat for interviews with every major network, YouTubers, and others, while Harris has not given a single press conference, interview, or announced any policy positions.

Musk insisted that it wasn't an interview but a conversation and referenced recent hostile interviews Trump has sat for, saying "My use of the word conversation is deliberate. This is so that people understand how Donald Trump talks when it’s a conversation, rather than an interview. Nobody is quite themselves in an interview, so it’s hard to understand what they’re really like."

Musk told the audience as the spaces began that X was under a DDOS attack prior to the Spaces, causing a delay. Musk first asked Trump about the assassination attempt in Butler, Penn. on July 13, saying that he was excited to endorse Trump because of the inspiring display of courage when there was an assassination attempt. Trump said that experience was "not pleasant" but was better than it could have turned out, all things considered, calling it "surreal" and saying, "I immediately knew it was a bullet." He said that after he was shot and ducked down behind the podium, bullets were "whizzing overhead."

"For those people who don't believe in God, I think we got to all start thinking about that," Trump added. The GOP nominee was thankful, crediting that he was saved by looking at a sign that was about illegal immigration. Trump had turned his head at the last minute, causing the bullet to strike him in the ear, and not in the head.

Trump also honored Corey Comperatore, who was killed in the spray of bullets coming from Thomas Matthew Crooks, adding that David Dutch as well as James Copenhaver were injured in the assassination attempt, but were treated by good doctors. Comperatore was a retired fire fighter who died protecting his family.

Trump credited the Secret Service agent who took out Crooks with one shot, saying, "It was one perfect shot from very far away. And if he, if he didn't do that, Elon ... a lot more people could have been badly and killed."

"It was a miracle that I hadn't turned my head. I would not be talking to you right now," Trump told Musk about the bullet hitting his ear. Musk complimented Trump on the actions he took after, saying “You can't fake bravery under such circumstances,” as he recounted that Trump had raised his fist in the air.

“When I put the fist up, they were, they were just relieved and happy and thrilled, and the place went crazy,” Trump told Musk. “We're going back to Butler, and we're gonna go back in October," Trump said about going back to Butler.

Trump then addressed illegal immigration, slamming Kamala Harris, VP and Democrat nominee, on her failure as the “border czar," saying she's been weak on the security she was tasked with ensuring. “You see what happened with these people, Kamala and Joe. You see what happened. They just let it go. I had remained in Mexico policies,” Trump said, about the Biden-Harris administration reversing his policies on immigration. Biden gave Harris the job of border security and staunching illegal immigration in March 2021.

Trump also hit Harris on her copying his proposal to have a no tax on tips policy, saying, “She's making a speech to say there will be no tax on tips. I said that months ago.”  Harris announced the initiative as part of her campaign at a stop in Las Vegas and was immediately called out for having copied Trump.

“I think it's essential to have a secure border. I mean, you're not a country unless you're a secure border,” Musk told the GOP nominee. He added that on the topic of immigration, you want people coming into the country who “are actually good, hard-working people.”

Trump then slammed Harris over the “coup” on Biden. “This was a coup. This was a coup of a president of the United States. He didn't want to leave,” Trump told Musk during the space. He said that the Democrats told Biden he could go out the “nice way” or the “hard way.”

Musk added in reference to Biden, “They just took him out back behind the shed and basically shot him.”

The interview was announced last week, with more details about it being released on Sunday. Musk, although he has voted for Democrats in the past, has endorsed Trump ahead of the 2024 election. It also marks Trump's return to X after he was banned by previous ownership in the wake of the J6 riot at the Capitol.
