Donald Trump returned to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, after he has only posted once since he was kicked off the platform after the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021. The GOP nominee posted a video which amassed over 3 million views within minutes of it being posted on the platform. The last time Trump posted to X was nearly one year ago, when he posted his famous mugshot.

The video was a campaign ad with the caption, "Make America Great Again. Vote Donald Trump for President. Donate Today." The ad went through a timeline of events since Trump became the president in 2016.

After posting the video, the GOP nominee posted again, saying, "Are you better off now than you were when I was president? Our economy is shattered. Our border has been erased. We're a nation in decline. Make the American Dream AFFORDABLE again. Make America SAFE again. Make America GREAT Again!"

During Trump’s presidency, he was very active on the platform, posting tweets from the White House. Many have used the activity to inspire the slogan “Mean tweets, world peace.” The tagline is found on lots of pro-Trump merch. In the wake of the J6 protest and riots, Trump was banned from the platform, with then-Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey assuming Trump had incited the violence that took place. In reality, Trump called for peace on the platform as well as calm, but those calls, along with others, were drowned out by the media narrative at the time.

"After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them — specifically how they are being received and interpreted on and off Twitter — we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence," Twitter said in a statement when Trump was suspended.

"In the context of horrific events this week, we made it clear on Wednesday that additional violations of the Twitter Rules would potentially result in this very course of action," they continued. "Our public interest framework exists to enable the public to hear from elected officials and world leaders directly. It is built on a principle that the people have a right to hold power to account in the open.

The post from Trump comes as he is set to do an interview with Elon Musk on X at 8 pm eastern on Monday. The interview was announced last week, and more details came out on Sunday. The Team Trump account posted about the upcoming interview on X, "President Trump is asking you to like this post.”

"President Trump will be interviewed by Elon Musk on Monday at 8 pm Eastern. Like this post to be notified when the interview begins. IT WILL BE THE INTERVIEW OF THE CENTURY! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!" Musk has endorsed Trump and extended his support for the GOP nominee in the wake of the assassination attempt on Trump at the Butler, Pennsylvania rally in July.

After returning to X, Trump posted a graphic of the interview announcement with Musk, saying, "Enjoy!"
