GOP nominee Donald Trump has issued a statement after shots were fired at his golf course while he was in the midst of playing a round. Secret Service reportedly fired the shots when they saw a man with a gun on the West Palm Beach course. Trump announced in a post that he was "safe and well" after the incident.

"There were gunshots in my vicinity," Trump said, "but before rumors start spiraling out of control, I wanted you to hear this first: I AM SAFE AND WELL! Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER! I will always love you for supporting me. Unity. Peace. Make America Great Again. May God bless you."

There was a man that was taken into custody after the Secret Service (USSS) spotted a man with gun on the golf course in West Palm Beach. He was located on the property line when he was spotted.

USSS shot four to five times at the gunman before he retreated. He was later detained, and was described as a white male in his 60s per, Florida State Rep. John Snyder.

This comes after there was an assassination attempt on Trump earlier in July at a Butler rally in Pennsylvania. In that instance, the GOP nominee was shot in the ear and others in the audience were hit by shots fired by Thomas Mattew Crooks.

The three that were shot included Corey Comperatore, who died of the injuries as he shielded his family, as well as David Dutch and James Copenhaver, both of whom were critically injured, but were able to recover.
