"Now we may have to take it a step further, or we may not. You're gonna be finding over the next probably 10 days," Trump said regarding Iran. The president reiterated that Iran can’t have nuclear weapons “You can’t have peace in the Middle East if they have a nuclear weapon,” he later added.
The president was not clear about what action would be taken regarding Iran, however, tensions between the two countries have been building after the Iranian regime has slaughtered thousands of protesters in the country.
During his speech, the president emphasized a need to bring peace around the world, and said that although the idea of peace is simple, getting to that point may be more difficult at times.
"We're providing a model for how responsible sovereign nations can cooperate to take responsibility for confronting problems in their own regions. The Board of Peace is showing how a better future can be built, starting right here in this room."
According to a report from the New York Times, citing Pentagon and administration officials, tensions between the US and Iran have escalated to the point where Trump may decide the direct strikes in the country as soon as this weekend. However, there is no indication that a final decision has been made regarding action in Iran.
On Tuesday, Vice President JD Vance said that Iran has failed to acknowledge core US demands over Tehran's nuclear program. All this takes place as the US has assembled necessary personnel and military equipment to the region that could be in a potential attack on Iran.
