President Trump signed an executive order on Wednesday that removes federal restrictions on water pressure for household appliances like shower heads, sinks, and dishwashers. The issue has been one Trump frequently mentioned during his campaigns and his first term in office.

“@POTUS signs an Executive Order to end the Obama-Biden war on water pressure and Make America’s Showers Great Again,” a post from the Rapid Response 47 account said on X.

The order repeals Obama-era regulations that limited how much water could flow from shower heads as part of a conservation effort. Trump had previously loosened those rules, but the Biden administration brought them back after taking office, reports the Wall Street Journal

“No longer will shower heads be weak and worthless,” said a draft of Trump’s order, adding that it intended to “make America’s showers great again.”

Trump has often referenced the issue and made light of it, joking that low water pressure affects his routine, especially when it comes to his hair.

“I like to take a nice shower to take care of my beautiful hair,” Trump said to laughter in the Oval Office. You have to stand under the shower for 15 minutes until it gets wet.”

The order argues that the federal rules are unnecessary and burden both consumers and manufacturers.

“No market failure justifies this intrusion: Americans pay for their own water and should be free to choose their shower heads without federal meddling,” the order said.
