Speaking with reporters on Monday before taking the stand in the civil fraud trial brought forth by New York Attorney General Letitia James, 2024 GOP frontrunner Donald Trump said he was looking forward to testifying, calling James a "racist attorney general."

"This is really election interference," he said, calling the trial "ridiculous."

"The numbers are much greater than on the financial statement. We’ve already proven that they said Mar-a-Lago is worth $18 million, Mar-a-Lago is worth anywhere from probably 50 to 100 times more than that. It’s a terrible, terrible thing."

"These are political operatives that I’m going to be dealing with right now," he said, later adding that "it’s a very sad situation for our country."

"We shouldn’t have this. This is for third world countries. It’s very unfair."

Speaking outside the courthouse, James said "before [Trump] takes the stand I am certain that he will engage in name-calling and taunts and race-baiting, and call this a witch hunt."

James said the former president has “repeatedly and consistently misrepresented and inflated the value of his assets.”

Trump testified that he put his son, Donald Trump Jr, back in charge of the trust in July of 2021 because, "he was impressive in business, as was Eric, and I thought I would do that while I continued onward with politics," CNN reports.

Trump was asked what was happening at this point in time, to which Trump noted that he was being investigated by "Democrats," and was asked whether these investigations led to Trump Jr being placed back in charge: "I think more so to the fact I was staying very much in politics."

Trump said he would occasionally have some suggestions on the financial documents at the center of the trial, stating, "I would look at them, I would see them, and I would maybe on occasion have some suggestions."

"We'll explain that as this trial goes along. This crazy trial goes along. Because we’re bringing in the bankers. Very big bankers," Trump says. "They will explain exactly what their process is."

"They were not really documents that the banks paid much attention to. They looked at the deal," he testified.

In a Truth Social post ahead of Trump traveling to the courthouse from Trump Tower, the presidential candidate said, "Getting ready to head to the Downtown Lower Manhattan Courthouse to testify in one of the many cases that were instigated and brought by my POLITICAL OPPONENT, Crooked Joe Biden, through agencies and surrogates, for purposes of ELECTION INTERFERENCE."

"This is the first time this method of cheating in an election has been so blatantly used in the USA as a POLITICAL WEAPON! Mostly done in Third World Countries. Got a really Biased, Nasty, Club controlled, but often overturned, Judge, a Racist, Evil, and Corrupt Attorney General, BUT A CASE THAT, ACCORDING TO ALMOST ALL LEGAL SCHOLARS, HAS ZERO MERIT. A dark day for our Country. WITCH HUNT!"

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
