US fighter jets scrambled after a civilian plane penetrated restricted airspace on Saturday afternoon.

The airspace was restricted because Joe Biden was at his personal residence in Wilmington, Delaware, said United States Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi, according to Fox News

"Shortly after 2 p.m., a civilian aircraft violated restricted airspace north of Wilmington, Delaware," Guglielmi said. "As a precaution, assets were scrambled to intercept and the civilian aircraft safely landed at a nearby airport."

Guglielmi noted that Biden's movements were not impacted and that the United States Secret Service is "investigating in coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration." He also said that the fighter jets were scrambled "as a precaution."

Biden attended church on Saturday evening after the occurrence, Politico reports.

This comes just over a month after the Biden administration was mocked by Republican lawmakers after the military was seen scrambling to locate an F-25 fighter jet in South Carolina after a pilot had been forced to eject from the aircraft.

At the time, Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) pondered, "How in the hell do you lose an F-35?" before later remarking, "Is it any wonder the Pentagon can’t pass an audit?"

Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) appeared to agree. He asked when speaking on the Biden administration: "What else are they losing?"

US officials at Joint Base Charleston claimed the pilot ditched the plane due to a "mishap" during the flight.

It took the US government an entire two days to ultimately find the missing F-35, according to MilitaryTimes

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
