The felony warrant out for Brinton's arrest is related to the Las Vegas incident, with charges including grand larceny with a value between $1,200 and $5,000, the warrant says, Newsweek reports.
Grand larceny is a category B felony in Nevada and is punishable by 1 to 10 years in prison. It may also include a $10,000 fine.
Brinton serves as the DOE's deputy assistant secretary for spent fuel and waste disposition.
Brinton was allegedly caught on camera stealing a suitcase in Minneapolis despite not checking in a bag. Brinton would later admit to taking the suitcase, but Brinton said that Brinton was under the impression that the bag belonged to Brinton.
Brinton was placed on leave from the department after being charged with felony theft because of the incident.
"It is simply not possible for an individual to represent American values and simultaneously violate the felony laws of the land," a letter from the DOE says.
"Brinton's actions, along with your Department's lack of transparency when dealing with this matter, reflect poorly on the Department of Energy, and they raise concern as to the Biden Administration's priorities when appointing high-ranking officials," the DOE continued.
Brinton is also accused of lying about going through "conversion therapy."
Brinton is known to be a fan of "kink parties" which he has hosted from time to time at a Washington, DC "dungeon," the accused thief's bio states.
"As a graduate of MIT, NuclearNerd has been teaching their ‘Physics of Kink' class in universities and community events across the country for years," the bio states. "They have been active in the kink world since 2013, host monthly kink parties in their dungeon in Washington, DC, and estimate they have spanked over 2,000 cute butts."
Brinton has taught seminars on how to be a sexual deviant, including "Heavy Metal Torture," "Fisting Fundamentals," "Cowboy Rope Bondage," "Running a Dungeon 101," "Pushing Limits: Managing Fear and Hesitation," "Ball Stretching 101," and "Advanced Flogging," reports the Free Beacon.
