Anamarie Avila Farias, a member of the Board of Education in Contra Costa County California, posted on her Facebook on June 28 that the time has come to boycott the Fourth of July and wrote "??I haven’t celebrated 4th of July since 2016 and I don’t think it’s a holiday to celebrate."

Libs of Tik Tok linked to screenshots of Farias' post and wrote, "This is an elected board of education member of @CoCoSchools. She is responsible for the education of thousands of children." In one of the linked screenshots, Farias enthusiastically wished to be invited instead to a burial for the Constitution and the Flag.

The comments section of her post reveals context as Farias writes, "I am not feeling particularly patriotic" because "last Friday women’s reproductive rights were taken away!"

Her unpatriotic point of view stems from the June 24 Supreme Court pro-life decision that overturned Roe v. Wade.

Farias interacted with many on her Facebook wall and continued her anti-America rant.

"We are not in a place of progress or celebration when human rights are being taken away" she wrote about mothers who could no longer abort their children, "I am especially not interested in celebrating a holiday centered around freedom from oppressive government when that freedom is not a reality for so many people in this country."

According to Fox News, fellow school board member Mike Maxwell affirmed her freedom of speech and said he "disagreed with Avila Farias' comments but supported her right to say them."

The Daily Mail reports that Farias, a member of the Democratic Party of Contra Costa County and mother of two, has been consistent on social media in sharing "pro-abortion, separation between state and church, and pro-gun control posts on her profile in the past."

Farias also linked to a 2020 Medium article titled "9 Reasons Why I Don’t Celebrate the 4th of July" that asserted the holiday is only for white people.

Controversy around outspoken Leftist school board members and their ideology has become relatively routine after the 2020 Covid-19 lockdown.

The proliferation of Critical Race Theory and radical gender ideology was revealed to parents, much to their dismay. Instead of moderating their philosophies many districts bucked and even pressed for the arrest of protesting parents.

The creation of parents as a voting demographic has already seen upheavals in school board elections and is predicted to play a role in the upcoming midterms.
