Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco has announced that he has decided to “change teams” and will be supporting former President Donald Trump in the 2024 election.

Bianco, who has gained a reputation in California for criticizing the state government, posted a video on social media blasting Governor Gavin Newsom as well as the state legislature, expressing his dissatisfaction with their approach to criminal justice.

Although Bianco said he would “change teams” in the video, it is unclear if he is a registered Democrat in the state of California and has run for the sheriff's office as a non-partisan candidate.

"For the last five years, I have been very critical about our governor for slashing our budgets... or letting prisoners out early or closing our prisons," Bianco began. "I've been critical of our state legislature for passing laws that make it harder to put people in prison."

"And I've been critical for our attorney general for seemingly not caring about crime and really being an embarrassment to law enforcement," he added.

“This love affair that our governor and our state legislature has with criminals is based on the belief that criminals are not responsible for their own actions, they’re a victim of society,” he explained.

Bianco then attacked Newsom once again, accusing him of perpetuating negative rhetoric against law enforcement and alleging systemic racism within the police force.

“I got to be honest I’m getting tired,” Bianco declared. “I’m wondering if I’m having a change of heart and ‘deciding you know what maybe I’ve been wrong.’”

“I’m gonna change teams,” Bianco determined.

After expressing his frustration with California’s leadership, he declared an endorsement for Trump.

“I think it’s time we put a felon in the White House. Trump 2024, baby. Let’s save this country and make America great again."
