Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is in hot water after word got out that the charity he handed a $900 million sole-source a contract to, has a financial relationship with some of his family members and connections to the Liberal Party.
As the news continues to circulate on social media, Canadians are sharing strong opinions on the incident as it was recently found that WE Charity paid Trudeau’s family members thousands of dollars to speak at events. The money has been received by Trudeau’s wife, mother and brother.
“The fact that Andrew Scheer will be more heavily criticized for not wearing a mask while sitting at an airport terminal than Justin Trudeau will for the whole WE charity debacle demonstrates everything wrong with Canadian media,” said one user.
“This is so beyond an honest mistake. WE is NOT a charity. It’s money laundering by the Trudeau family,” said another.
This comes as Trudeau is being investigated by the ethics commissioner and Bloc Quebecois leader Yves-François Blanchet is calling for the prime minister to step down while the investigation takes place. Blanchet suggested that the responsibilities should be passed on to Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland.
Twitter user Cory Morgan said, “Must feel great for those who are scraping by on CERB knowing that the Trudeau clan is siphoning hundreds of thousands from a 'charity' while telling them: ‘We are all in this together’”
Trudeau is now being investigated by the ethics commissioner for the third time in five years.
