Carney thinks Trump might INVADE Canada

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney actually believes that President Donald Trump will instruct the United States Armed Forces to invoice the Great White North. In an interview with The New York Times, Carney said that he had prepared, over this past year, for the "extreme tail risk" that Trump would oversee a military invasion of our closest neighbor and ally. 

While that statement indicates that he does not believe it is particularly likely, he also said that it would be "irresponsible" not to prepare for the potentiality. The Times asked Carney if he was concerned about Trump's jokes to make Canada the 51st state, what the Times called "threats." Carney, they write, "suggested that he had carefully examined the possibility of US-led military action."

"I think you have a responsibility in these roles to look at extreme tail risk," he told them. "That's just risk management. That's not a base case, but it would be irresponsible not to prepare."

This from the leader who just authorized $100 million to train Palestinian police and provide aid to a government that turns water pipes into rocket launchers. This from the leader of a nation that has more government assisted suicide deaths per year than there are gun homicides in the United States. That's right, the government knowingly, willingly, and perhaps even joyously kills its own citizens at a rate higher than the American population murders each other with guns—and we're the ones who get a bad rap for violence.

President Donald Trump and Carney have sparred over trade, mass immigration, and energy since the two men have been in office. Ahead of Carney's interview with the Times, Trump had said "Canada is destroying itself by allowing millions and millions of people into the Country, essentially unchecked and unvetted, and who are causing problems that will soon be too big to handle. It is a Liberal takeover that will end very badly. Already showing up in their numbers. Big unemployment. 'Oh Canada!'"

Putting aside for the moment that Trump's not wrong, mass migration ruins countries that don't vouchsafe their own culture and encourage assimilation, Carney's comments about prepping for a US invasion understand how little the Anglosphere understands Trump and just what a uniquely American president he is.

Trump says things to get you going, to light a fire, to make things happen—and it works. That's why he does it. Look at Greenland, the other 51st state. He didn't want Greenland, he didn't want to add to the American landmass, he just wanted to be able to secure American interests. Now we have an independent Greenland that has American support that could outlive NATO, should such a thing be necessary. The American military can move freely across their territory. And no invasion was needed. Trump got what he wanted and what was best for American interests.

Trump and Carney have gone back and forth on trade so much that it's hard to even know where either nation stands. And during the ongoing spat, Trump has remade Lake Ontario into Lake America, the Gulf of Mexico into the Gulf of America, and made Canadians angry. But the only thing that matters to Trump is if he will get what he wants, what he believes is best for America, and if it will happen on time.
