Illegal immigration, espionage, as well as other activities happening inside the US linked to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) have skyrocketed under the Biden-Harris administration, according to a new report drafted by the House Committee on Homeland Security.

The "China Threat Snapshot" report outlined the recent uptick in espionage as well as acts of transnational repression and illegal immigration happening on US soil linked to the CCP under the current administration. Over 55 CCP-related cases of espionage have been reported in a combined 20 US states over the course of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris' tenure. The report notes that between 2000 and 2023, a total of 224 cases have been reported. FBI Director Christopher Wray has also testified that the FBI opens a new case countering CCP intelligence every 12 hours.

The report stated, "Cases of Chinese espionage throughout the US have expanded rapidly with Chinese nationals and non-Chinese individuals acting on behalf of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) allegedly committing a variety of forms of espionage including but not limited to, government, military, and economic espionage." Some notable cases in the report included that a former professor at two US universities was sentenced to 37 months in prison for lying to federal authorities to get millions in grants then used for China's medical expertise.

In addition to this, "Approximately 40 officers of China's Ministry of Public Security were charged with an indictment amidst various crimes in relation to a transnational repression scheme which targeted PRC dissidents in the US." Other cases included a Chinese national acting as an illegal agent of the PRC to recruit scientists and collect advanced aerospace technology information as well as two people convicted of acting or conspiring to act on behalf of the PRC to harass and coerce Chinese dissidents to go back to China.

Along with the report on Thursday, the committee also stated in its press release on the matter, "The Biden-Harris administration has overseen the largest influx of Chinese nationals illegally crossing the Southwest border than any previous administration. While the motivating factors driving Chinese nationals to cross the border are multifaceted, a thorough review is warranted due to the glaring security vulnerabilities at the border. In FY24 alone, Border Patrol agents have recorded more than 36,000 apprehensions of Chinese nationals—more than all those recorded from FY07-20 combined."

The Biden-Harris administration has helped to soften the vetting process for Chinese nationals to gain entry into the US, increasing the likelihood that some will act in the interests of the CCP in America through means such as espionage. The administration carved the 40-question long list to just five "basic questions" in 2023. By May 2024, there had been an 8,000 percent increase in Chinese illegal immigration as opposed to March 2021.

Recently, a report revealed that a CCP-linked officer was telling Chinese immigrants on a Telegram channel how to best evade Border Patrol and cross into the US from the southern border.
