On Friday, the CDC changed its travel recommendations for people who have already received a vaccine for COVID-19, as long as they practice all of the appropriate precautions.
However, they still caution against unnecessary trips during the next several weeks, especially to and from areas where the virus is currently surging.
According to the Wall Street Journal, traffic at airports is at the highest it has been since the beginning of the lockdown, which in most locations is roughly a year ago.
The CDC's Dr. Rochelle Walensky said during the Friday conference that people who have completed their vaccine regimens (chiefly meaning, they have received all necessary doses) don't need to be tested before or after travel, nor should they have to quarantine upon reaching their destination.
Some international airports are experimenting with things such as apps that can serve as what are starting to be known as "health passports" or "vaccine passports", allowing travellers to download proof of being vaccinated and/or having had the appropriate tests to get a clean bill of health to travel.
However, in countries like the US, especially in certain states, this idea is extremely unpopular, even at the official level.
