"It is literally insane that these two, who represent districts with real, real problems, should be this focused, and this heated about who gets to piss with them."
For Cuomo, the whole thing is a meaningless distraction. Those who favor women's only spaces have taken issue with Cuomo for what they see as his obvious misunderstanding of the issue. It's not just about bathrooms but locker rooms, language, and protections for women under the law.
"We call out the game," Cuomo said. "What game? The game that is the toxic battle to the bottom for the two political parties. Constantly looking for personal takedowns of the other, often picking issues that do nothing to make anything better that matters to most of us. And the game and these battles are a key ingredient in what is making everything worse and why nothing gets done."
Cuomo perhaps doesn't realize that the Biden-Harris administration has made sweeping changes to federal law, without congressional approval, to alter Title IX of the Civil Rights Act to force schools from elementary grades through universities to allow men who say they are women to use women's bathrooms, locker rooms, compete on women's sports teams, and claim to be women outright under the law. This was a key issue for many in the recent presidential election, where an ad opposing male players in women's sports was pivotal.
"And as we are starting a new administration, it is time to try to force them to stop doing what's making it worse. And that's how I see this Mace versus AOC madness. Madness because it is literally insane to think that these two, who represent districts with real, real problems, should be this focused, and this heated about who gets to piss with them," Cuomo said.
Sall Grover, who has been fighting a maddening court case in Australia for the right to launch a women's only social networking platform that does not include men, whether they claim to be women or not, spoke up against Cuomo. "We're like a decade into this madness," she said. "You simply can't call yourself a political commenator if you haven't done as much research on gender ideology as the average woman has. We know a lot. You should speak to us."
Courage is a Habit claimed that "People like Chris are cowards. They were all for the trans cult and/or stayed silent 4 years ago. They’re only speaking out now and pretending to sound like they’re cutting edge when they know it’s safer to do so."
Cuomo replied to Grover, saying, "I don't even get the basis of your criticism. You went too quickly to attacking and never made a point." He clearly missed her point, which was that he was minimizing the issue. He claimed that the disagreement was over "who gets to piss with them," but "really the issue of trans is about the erasure of women in service to a male fantasy. This erasure is in language, families, sports, sexuality and yes, bathrooms," added Libby Emmons.
Incoming Delaware Rep. Sarah McBride, who came out in 2012 and has been presenting as a woman ever since, was elected to serve in the 119th Congress earlier this month. After the win, Mace, who has suffered rape and sexual abuse in her childhood and teen years, said that she would be made uncomfortable by McBride using women's bathrooms on the Hill. She proposed a bill to prevent it, then said she would try to get it into the rules for the new Congress, before House Speaker Mike Johnson said women's and men's bathrooms, respectively, would be for those who have those biological sex distinctions only.
AOC, Senator Tammy Duckworth, and others have come out in opposition to Mace and the Speaker's new rule, saying that it's not fair to McBride or to men who claim to be women. Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene suggested that perhaps there should be separate women's rooms for Republican women and Democrat women so that Democrat women can share their bathrooms with men should they so choose and those who know that biological differences matter would not be subjected to the same.
