The decision to pull the episode came as there were a number of social media posts online accusing the network of contributing to the hatred and anger against Kirk.
The company, owned by Paramount Skydance, pulled a rerun of the episode called "Got a Nut" from a lineup for cable television on Wednesday evening. Kirk was killed earlier that day while he was speaking to college students at Utah Valley University. Comedy Central instead pushed Episode 1 from season 27 of South Park to the slot, per the New York Post.
The decision to pull the episode came as there were a number of social media posts online accusing the network of contributing to the hatred and anger against Kirk. One viral post from an X account read, "South Park skipped four years of Biden just to demonize a guy who does speaking events. Charlie Kirk did nothing wrong."
Another read, "One thing I believe should happen is that South Park should be canceled. This entire season has been about dehumanizing Trump and every other Conservative including Charlie Kirk. There is nothing funny about this show anymore. The only thing the show has to offer is hateful rhetoric that leads to tragic events like today. They never said a word about Biden when he was in office. Why is only one side allowed to be criticized? Enough it's time to shut South Park down for good."
Although motive has not been officially determined by authorities, ammo found with the suspected murder weapon from the shooting was found with writings related to trans and Antifa ideologies, indicating a political motivation behind the shooting.
The FBI has called on the public to help identify a person of interest in the shooting. "We are asking for the public's help identifying this person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University," the agency said in a post to X alongside photos of the individual.
Tips to the FBI can be submitted over the phone at 1-800-CALL-FBI or on the online tip form.
