Crowd SHUTS DOWN Trudeau after PM uses Flight PS752 memorial to campaign for Liberal MP

The Liberal leader made mention of Majid Jowhari, the Liberal MP for Richmond Hill, and described him to the crowd as "a strong advocate for the community," which was directly followed by several seconds of loud "no" chants from the crowd.

During a memorial event in Toronto on Sunday to mark the third anniversary of the downing of flight PS 752 by the Islamic Republic, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's attempt to campaign for one of his party's MPs fell flat, as the crowd shut him down almost immediately.

The Liberal leader made mention of Majid Jowhari, the Liberal MP for the Toronto suburb of Richmond Hill, and described him to the crowd as "a strong advocate for the community," which was directly followed by several seconds of loud "no" chants from the crowd.

"We're all working together at this federal level to hold the Iranian regime accountable," he added, in an attempt to justify his previous comment.

The rally in Toronto was one of many gathering across North America and around the world to mark the third anniversary of the airline disaster, in which Iran shot down a Ukrainian passenger plane, killing all 176 people on board, according to Iran International Newsroom.

The rallies have also acted as a means of expressing solidarity with the Iranian people protesting and holding strikes for nearly four months following the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who died in police custody following her arrest by the morality police for not wearing a hijab in public.

The Iranian regime initially denied the incident before admitting days later that it has shot the plane out of the sky.

The Prime Minister lambasted the Iranian regime and accused them of disregarding human life.

"The Flight PS752 tragedy happened because of the Iranian regime's heinous disregard for human life... The Islamic Republic does not represent the people of Iran who deserve so much better," he said.

Trudeau has been accused of hypocrisy due to his support for the Iranian protesters but not for the peaceful freedom convoy protests from last year, who had their right to protest stripped and their bank accounts were frozen in response to their criticisms of the Trudeau government.
