On the second night of her stop in Dallas for the Middle of Nowhere Tour, country singer Kacey Musgraves said “f*ck Columbus,” saying the famed Italian explorer was “the lamest person” to ever exist and a “loser.”
The tour stop took place on Sunday, the night before Columbus Day. She told the crowd, “wait, it’s Columbus Day?” The crowd responded, “no.”
“It’s what now?” Musgraves said, with the crowd replying, “Indigenous Peoples Day.”
“Yeah, no, no, yeah, actually, obviously, f*ck Columbus. Literally the lamest person to probably ever exist. Like for real. What a loser,” she said to cheers from the crowd. “You’re a loser, Christopher Columbus. We hate you.”
On night one of her tour stop in Dallas, which took place on Saturday, Texas Democrat Senate candidate James Talarico made an appearance. This came after Talarico had been missing from the campaign trail for nearly two weeks with what his campaign said was the flu.
While former President Joe Biden’s administration had recognized both Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples Day under his term, the Trump administration issued a full-throated endorsement of Columbus Day on Monday, with Trump himself and various agencies and officials posting in celebration of the holiday.
Trump wrote, “HAPPY COLUMBUS DAY TO ALL, in particular our great Italian American Community which was forced to suffer as the Radical Left Dumocrats, Socialists, and Communists rampaged through our cities and towns ripping down almost all of the beautiful statues of Christopher Columbus. Well, those days of plunder are over, and the statues are back, more magnificent than ever. This is a big day for our great Italian American Community, and the Country of Italy itself, maybe the biggest. Congratulations!”
