“She thought it was funny and then the next day she turns on him.”

Comedian Roseanne Barr revealed how Whoopi Goldberg orchestrated Ted Danson's blackface routine when they "were in love" and then threw him under the bus for it after the incident. Roseanne made the reveal during an interview with Alex Stein.
Danson made the blackface performance repleat with use of the "n-word," at the 1993 Celebrity Roast at the Friar's Club in New York City.
Danson was "Whoopi's lover" according to an October 1993 report on the comic's routine at the roast. Danson had allegedly said the n-word more than a dozen times during the series of jokes.
Danson said at the time, "She dared me to do this," in reference to Goldberg. She allegedly said, "Let's get these words all out in the open. It took a whole lot of courage to come out in blackface in front of 3,000 people. I don't care if you didn't like it. I did."
Barr went on about the events that took place between Goldberg and Danson and said, "She thought it was funny and then the next day she turns on him."
"She told him to do it and wrote the jokes and the next day she f*ckin' turns on him," Barr continued. "She was leading that."
Barr and Goldberg have had their own history of spats between them, which she addressed in the interview, saying, "[How] about Disney, I was their only number one show in 15 f*ckin' years."
"They cancelled me over a tweet whereas Whoopi goes on eveyday going, "Kill the Jews!" she continued.
Alex Stein interjected and said, "She's a fake Jew... she purposefully picked [Goldberg] so that people would think that she was Jewish." Goldberg's real name is Caryn Johnson and has said before that she "took the last name of a Jewish ancestor."
During 2018, Barr was accused of writing and tweeting racist comments with regards to former adviser Valerie Jarrett, saying the "Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby." Jarrett, Iranian born, was a senior adviser to President Barack Obama during his term in the White House.
Goldberg critiszed Roseanne for her comments at the time. Goldberg, on the other hand, was on ABC's, The View, and said that the Holocaust "wasn't about race” in 2022.

Goldberg later apologized for those anti-Semitic comments, and gave an explanation, saying, "It is indeed about race because Hitler and the Nazis considered Jews to be an inferior race... I stand corrected."

Barr also apologized for her tweet and said, "I apologize to Valerie Jarret and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks."
Barr's show on ABC was cancelled and Goldberg had a two-week suspension.
