In recent weeks, there have been a number of swatting incidents, where suspects have targeted conservative influencers and journalists by calling into police stations and making up false stories such that they arrive at the media figures' houses, heavily armed and believing that a crime has taken place.
In one instance, radio host Joe "Pags" Pagliarulo reported that he was the target of a swatting operation in Texas last week, where he was woken up at 2 am by several armed officers.
"[I] called 911 because now we've got to find out — if it's the good guys, I've got to be very careful. If it's the bad guys, I've got to go out with my gun and try to protect my family," Pagliarulo told Fox News host Will Cain. When he called, the emergency line dispatchers informed him that the sheriff got a 911 call from an individual claiming to be the host in a hostage situation.
Conservative figure Nick Sortor, Mike Engleman, Walter Curt, Infowars' Owen Shroyer, and others have been swatted. Infowars host Chase Geiser has been swatted twice. On Wednesday, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem vowed that the Trump administration will "hunt down" those targeting the conservative media figures.
"Under President Trump’s leadership, we will not sit idly by as conservative new media and their families are being targeted by false swatting. DHS has the ability to trace phone numbers and track location information. We will use it to hunt these cowards down. This is an attack on our law enforcement and innocent families and we will prosecute it as such," Noem wrote.
In addition to this, Bongino vowed to investigate the numerous attacks on Tesla cars owned by individual people as well as car dealerships in recent weeks. There have been numerous incidents across the country where Tesla owners have been victims of arson as well as vandalism on their cars.
A trans suspect in Oregon has also been arrested for shooting up and firebombing a Tesla dealership in Salem. Adam Matthew Lansky, 41, was taken into custody earlier this week and charged for the alleged crime.
