In an interview with The Brian Kilmeade Show on Monday, Rep. Dan Crenshaw blasted the State Department and US military generals for not pushing President Joe Biden hard enough to take their advice on the situation in Afghanistan.

"I think if there's blame to go around, it's that maybe the generals didn't stand up enough to Joe Biden," Crenshaw said in the interview. "I know for a fact they gave him the right advice and he decided not to take it."

"Well, why didn't you resign in protest?" Crenshaw questioned, according to Fox News. "That's a reasonable criticism," the GOP lawmaker added.

Crenshaw also slammed the State Department for the "massive lack of contingency planning" in getting Americans out of Afghanistan. "I think the current ambassador to Afghanistan, again, under both administrations is a complete disaster. The State Department has been a complete disaster in all of this."

As a Navy Seal veteran who saw combat in Afghanistan, the Republican representative claimed that the Biden administration "failed to adhere to procedures" of neo-evacuations, which is a "non-combatant operation that is really well planned out and well executed in embassies all around the world."

Crenshaw continued to explain that it is "something that is practiced and that everybody needs to know." US forces need to "know where they're supposed to go and how they are supposed to round up U.S. citizens in a country if a crisis happens," Crenshaw continued.

"There are certain tripwires also that would initiate such procedures. As we understand it, the embassy under this ambassador's leadership just failed to notice and failed to adhere to those procedures," Crenshaw said.

Crenshaw slammed both Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Biden's national security advisor Jake Sullivan for the chaos, stating: "So they were behind the eight ball the entire time. You know, when I hear from Antony Blinken and Jake Sullivan, they tend to repeat the lies of the administration more than most. And I think the State Department has a lot to answer for on this."
