Dem Maine Senate candidate with Nazi tattoo called Jesus a 'zombie,' Mary a 'skank'

"I've spent 8 years in the infantry, Marine Corps and Army, and I've been about as crudely atheist as one can be the entire time (zombie jesus jokes and Mary sucking at covering up being a skank, as examples)."

A newly uncovered Reddit post from Graham Platner, a Democrat Senate candidate in Maine known for having a past tattoo resembling a Nazi-linked symbol, has revealed the candidate describing himself as "crudely atheist," and calling Jesus a "zombie" and the Virgin Mary "a skank."

The comment came in response to a 2012 post in the subreddit r/politics that spoke about a 2008 lawsuit from a soldier who claimed that he was denied a promotion for not embracing "fundamentalist Christianity," per the Free Beacon.

Platner responded to the post in part, "What units is this shit in? I've spent 8 years in the infantry, Marine Corps and Army, and I've been about as crudely atheist as one can be the entire time (zombie jesus jokes and Mary sucking at covering up being a skank, as examples)."

The post was made under the account "P-Hustle," which has been linked to Platner. The comment is still live, however, it says that the account that posted it was deleted.

Platner, who is running to unseat current Senator Susan Collins, has been plagued by past comments he has made on Reddit amid his campaign. He has posted in the past about having an "Antifa supersoldier" label on his armor, questioning why black people "don’t tip," writing that guns are needed to "fight fascism," and criticizing the police.

He has come under fire for having a chest tattoo of a symbol that resembles the Nazi SS Totenkopf skull and crossbones. He previously apologized after receiving widespread backlash, claiming to have gotten matching tattoos with fellow Marines in Croatia in 2007, saying that they had selected it because it "looked cool." He has covered the tattoo up. He wrote, "I was appalled to learn it closely resembled a Nazi symbol. I altered it yesterday, into something that isn't deeply offensive to my core beliefs."
