"We really live in a world where a men dressed as woman is advocating for children to have access to porn."
Minnesota state Rep. Leigh Finke, a male lawmaker in Minnesota who identifies as a woman, said that age restrictions on porn sites, which many have argued for in order to protect the innocence of children, would somehow be weaponized against queer kids.
“The AGs in many states are very clear about- they’re almost jubilant about being able to use these laws to ban young people from accessing content that could be educational if they are queer,” Finke argued during a committee meeting on Thursday.
“You’re a principal, you have LGBT students in your school, and we also know that they’re not receiving sex education for queer kids, we know that prurient interest could be for many people the very existence of transgender kids. More and more people are saying, there are simply no transgender kids," he added.
One user, who said that he himself is gay, wrote in response to the clip, "As a gay man, and clinical mental health researcher who studies and works alongside the LGBT community, adults like the one in this video are making it - once again - troubling to be a gay kid. Decades of progress down the drain. There are gay kids - there is no such thing as a 'queer kid.' No kid needs porn to learn who they are - they need supportive families and friends and time."
Another user said in response to the clip, "We really live in a world where a men dressed as woman is advocating for children to have access to porn."
Finke started identifying as a woman in 2017. Finke only started identifying as bisexual in his late 30s, and then later said he identified as a woman. Before identifying as trans, Finke was married with two kids. He and his ex-wife are now separated and are raising their kids in separate homes.
