Democrat Representative John Larson of Connecticut attended an anti-ICE rally this week, where he declared that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents are akin to a Nazi police force. This comes as President Donald Trump has been cracking down on illegal immigration in the United States.

“This is a time for good trouble. This is a time for Americans to rise up,” Larson said to the crowd at the rally. He then declared that ICE is like the secret police of Nazi Germany.

“This is not Germany. That’s the SS and the Gestapo!” Larson screamed. “This is the United States of America. Unmask yourselves!” ICE agents have faced an increase in assaults at 1,000 percent, per the Department of Homeland Security, as the Trump administration has been cracking down on illegal immigration, starting with those in the country illegally who are public safety threats and are committing crimes.

The comments from Larson follow ICE agents detaining five men and two women at a car wash in Newington, Connecticut over the weekend, per News8. After the Trump administration used the National Guard to crack down on crime in Washington, DC and aid immigration enforcement, the president has planned to mobilize 1,700 National Guard troops across 19 states in order to aid ICE agents in processing illegal immigrants for deportation after they are detained by law enforcement.

“We have almost 700,000 illegal aliens with criminal histories that we are trying to find, so the National Guard is a support function, they are a force multiplier,” Border Czar Tom Homan said.
