The New York Democratic Socialists of America are rallying in Times Square to celebrate the terrorist attacks and kidnappings in Israel, in which Hamas Islamist militants slaughtered hundreds of innocent Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers, including women and children, on Saturday.

Governor Kathy Hochul (D) issued a strong condemnation of the rally, and the New York Police Department's counter-terrorism division announced that they have ramped up patrols at synagogues. More than 600 Israelis have been killed in the Hamas attacks, so far.

The event, promoted by DSA and organized by the radical Socialist/Communist group "People's Forum NYC," kicked off in Times Square at 1 pm, in which the group demanded for the United States to cease all aid to Israel and called for the genocide of Israeli citizens.

"From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free," the group chanted in Times Square while Israel was under attack by Hamas, according to a video taken by journalist Julio Rosas.

The New York City chapter of DSA promoted the event on Saturday writing on X, "Free Palestine!"

"Tomorrow, October 8, at 1PM. Times Square. In solidarity with the Palestinian people and their right to resist 75 years of occupation and apartheid," it said.

The original event posted to X by People's Forum NYC, a radical Socialist/Communist group, encouraged "New York City" to go "all out for Palestine."

"Join us to stand with the people of Palestine, who have the right to resist apartheid, occupation & oppression," the group wrote.

Gov. Hochul strongly condemned the pro-Palestine terrorist rally, calling it "abhorrent" and "morally repugnant."

"The people of Israel are facing violent terrorist attacks and civilian kidnappings. I condemn plans to rally in Times Square tomorrow in support of the perpetrators of these horrific actions. The planned rally is abhorrent and morally repugnant," Hochul wrote.

As the world watches Israel be attacked by Palestine's Hamas and Lebanon's Hezbollah, law enforcement agencies across the country are on high alert.

According to ABC News, the NYPD counter-terrorism division has ramped up patrols at synagogues in response to the attacks on Israel.

In addition to New York City, a rally organized by the radical group "MECA for peace" is planned for Sunday in San Franciso outside the Israeli consulate, in which they blamed the United States government for Palestinian apartheid.

"We are witnessing the people of Gaza rising up to respond to decades of Israeli settler colonial violence. The US govt bears responsibility for its political, economic & military support of this brutal apartheid regime. Join us to stand in solidarity with Palestine," it wrote.

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared war on Saturday, writing, "Since this morning, the State of Israel has been at war. Our first objective is to clear out the hostile forces that infiltrated our territory and restore the security and quiet to the communities that have been attacked. The second objective, at the same time, is to exact an immense price from the enemy, within the Gaza Strip as well."

"The third objective is to reinforce other fronts so that nobody should mistakenly join this war. We are at war. In war, one needs to be level-headed. I call on all citizens of Israel to unite in order to achieve our highest goal – victory in the war," he said.

This is a developing story.
