In Pennsylvania, recent stroke victim and Democrat John Fetterman holds a 5 point lead over Republican nominee and former daytime television host, Doctor Mehmet Oz, in the midterm Senate election.

The Hill reports that according to Trafalgar Group poll, Fetterman, a Democrat who is currently the state's Lieutenant Governor, is polling at 48.4 percent compared to Oz's 43.5 percent in the race to fill the Senate seat held by Republican Pat Toomey who is retiring at the end of his term. If Fetterman wins it will flip a current GOP held seat and ensure a 51 held majority for Democrats.

The Trafalgar Group poll surveyed 1,096 likely 2022 general election voters between August 15 and 18 and has a 2.9 percent margin of error.

GOP gubernatorial candidate Doug Mastriano trails Attorney General Josh Shapiro who has 44.7 percent support compared to Mastriano's 48.6.

A recount was needed after the May Republican primary election found Mehmet Oz barely beating out  David McCormick by .5 percent. When Oz's victory was confirmed in June he started focusing his energies on Fetterman. Fetterman suffered a stroke in May but vowed not to exit the race. He remained in the hospital during the primary and his wife delivered his victory remarks.

Oz and Fetterman have been campaigning hard against one another and as The Hill reports, Fetterman raised over half a million dollars after Oz posted a video of himself shopping for groceries.

In the video, Oz says he's shopping for vegetables so his wife can make crudite, which is more commonly known as a veggie platter. While grabbing his items he also says he's at a "Wegners" which is not a grocery store chain. He was at a Wegmans.

Oz and Shapiro were both endorsed by former President Trump who will rally for them in September.
