On Tuesday, police responded to a call about a reported shooting at Wilmer-Hutchins High School in Dallas where three were shot and one other was grazed, according to a report from NBCDFW

The call just before 1:10 pm local time and many emergency vehicles were on the scene after the response. Students were seen leaving the building as the incident unfolded, according to a report from ABC8. The four people were transported to the hospital with the injuries, ranging from serious to non-life-threatening, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue officials that spoke to reporters. Their ages range from 15 to 18 years old.

Police know who the shooter is, according to a statement from Dallas City Councilman Tennell Atkins as reported by NBCDFW. However, Atkins could not confirm if the shooter was in custody. He said that it appeared as if someone allowed another into the school right before the shooting took place.

Just after 1 pm local time, a call to authorities reported an active shooter threat. The threat was over by 1:45 pm, the outlet reported. Dallas Independent School District officials were able to confirm that police were responding to a "shooting incident" at the school.

Footage of the area showed that there were paramedics in the parking lot surrounding the school and there were students running from the school building. The outlet reported that this incident is not the only on in recent memory, and that in April of last year, a shooting at the same high school left a student injured.

Police initially asked parents to keep clear of the school as authorities were responding to the incident, but the campus was secured at 2:15 pm. "We understand this is a difficult time and ask for your patience," school district officials said. "Counselors are on site and available for anyone who may need support."

"We were in class and I saw him walk by and then two seconds later I heard like six shots, and the teacher ran to the door and closed it and told us to hide in the corner," one student told reporters

Dallas News reported that a student at the Wilmer-Hutchinson high school recalled hearing eight gunshots. Sophomore Abby Falcon recalled that she heard the shots during history class, and told reporters, “The first thought in my mind was that this was gonna be my last day here."

This is a developing story. Please refresh for updates.
