This isn't the first time that James has disrespected the anthem.
Footage of LeBron's actions were captured by Luca Evans, who covers USC sports for the Orange County Register.
Users across X reacted to LeBron's actions, with many characterizing his conduct as "disrespectful" and others saying he is on "China's payroll."
This isn't the first time that James has disrespected the anthem. During the "summer of love" in 2020 when BLM and Antifa riots rocked the country, James knelt along with other players while the anthem played. He saluted other players, such as football player Colin Kaepernick, for protesting during the national anthem as well. As James knelt, he wore a Black Lives Matter t-shirt.
"I hope we made Kaep proud," James said after a July 2020 game. "I hope we continue to make Kaep proud every single day. I hope I make him proud with how I live my life, not only on the basketball floor but off the floor. I’ve been one to always speak out about things that I feel like is unjust. If I’m educated on things, I always go about it that way. So Kaep was someone who stood up when times weren't comfortable, and people didn’t understand or refused to listen to what he was saying."
LeBron ostensibly attended to view the first game his son, Bronny James has played since he suffered a cardiac arrest in July.
Bronny had been absent for over four months after his the cardiac arrest. He finished the game with four points, three rebounds, two assists and a block with 16 minutes of playtime, according to CBS Sports.
"I just wanted to say I'm thankful for everything," Bronny James said after the game's conclusion. "(From) The Mayo Clinic and everything they helped me with, my parents and siblings supporting me through this hard time in my life. I just want to give appreciation to everyone that's helped me through this. Also, my coach, my teammates and other coaches."
It remains unclear if Bronny, who plays for the USC Trojans, will be able to see more action in the upcoming games, per the outlet.
The Trojans ultimately lost that game, with a final tally of 84-79.
