They will "combat online misinformation and respond to Trump administration actions by pushing out memes, videos and graphics."
The social media team from the Harris campaign account will be tapped to focus on building a brand dubbed @FactPostNews on X, Bluesky, and Threads, according to a statement from the DNC, per Fox. The organization claims that they will "combat online misinformation and respond to Trump administration actions by pushing out memes, videos and graphics." Already, an account calls @FactPostNewsLs has popped up, mirroring the @KamalaHQLies account that sprung up to debunk the deceptive posts.
The DNC plans to expand the brand of the account to TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram and will chase after so-called "disinformation" coming from the GOP as well as from the Trump White House.
"The Republican disinformation machine is powerful, but we believe a stronger weapon is giving people the facts about how Trump and his administration are screwing over the American people," DNC official Shelby Cole said in a statement.
In addition, the DNC is "teeing up fresh economic attacks on Trump as he takes office, per a memo obtained by Axios," the press release added. The team has been tasked to track and attack Trump's Cabinet appointments for its first assignment as they are going through Senate hearings. Senate confirmation hearings for Trump's cabinet picks began on Tuesday.
Although the KamalaHQ account amassed millions of followers on social media platforms, CNN has previously reported that the KamalaHQ account's team "has repeatedly deceived with misleading edits and captions." The account also reportedly would try to manipulate Community Notes on X that they took issue with on the social media platform.
