As law enforcement closes in on the illegal alien murderer who escaped from a Pennsylvania prison, a man who gained notoriety for tracking people down has expressed a desire to take part in the search.

Duane Chapman, better known as Dog the Bounty Hunter, has taken an interest in capturing Danelo Cavalcante, with sources close to the reality TV star saying he may join those on the front lines in Chester County.

According to TMZ, Champan has been following the case since Cavalcante escaped from Chester County Prison nearly two weeks ago.

The bounty hunter reportedly wants to learn more about the area before venturing out to help.

In an interview with Fox News' Jesse Watters on Friday, Chapman explained what he would do to track Cavalcante down.

"I would be, of course, using a bloodhound," Chapman said, adding that, "unless it rains, a bloodhound's gonna catch him." He noted that because Cavalcante is only five feet tall, "he could hide anywhere," but maintained that a dog would be able to sniff him out.

Chapman added that he "caught hundreds of fugitives" using bloodhounds in terrain similar to that in which authorities are currently searching for the escapee, and urged them to use the animals to prevent him from fleeing. "With the hounds there's no way he's gonna get away," he said.

All bloodhounds need to pick up a scent is a piece of clothing. On Monday night, law enforcement revealed that Cavalcante's prison shoes had been discovered near the side of a road, though there has been no indication that they will be provided to the sniffer dogs any time soon.

During a press conference Tuesday morning, Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens revealed that the prison escapee, who was convicted of murdering his former girlfriend in front of her children in 2021, had stolen a .22 caliber rifle and should be considered "armed and extremely dangerous."

The current search area is bordered by PA 23 to the north, PA 100 to the east, Fairview and Nantmeal Roads to the south, and Ironbridge and County Park Roads to the west.
