The Department of Justice has launched a grand jury probe into Neville Roy Singham's vast funding of left-wing and Marxist groups that have been backed by the mogul. The probe is over alleged financial crimes including fraud and money laundering. Singham lives in China.

The China-based tech tycoon has been very influential in US politics with a number of different NGOs and activists groups aligned with the far left, including CodePink, the ANSWER Coalition, and the Party for Socialism and Liberation.

According to a report from Fox News, a grand jury in Manhattan has issued subpoenas in a probe that was launched by US Attorney Jay Clayton in the Southern District of New York. The investigation was authorized by Acting US Attorney General Todd Blanche as the Trump administration is looking to crack down on fraud in the US.

Since 2017, Singham has pumped $285 million into various left-wing groups focused on socialism, identity politics, and other far-left causes. The subpoenas seek the bank records and other documentation from Singham's financial network. Singham has used a Goldman Sachs philanthropy fund in order to distribute his wealth to various shell companies that feed the money to the left-wing non-profit groups.

The investigation has been made in an attempt to determine if Singham or his organizations have committed wire fraud, bank fraud, money laundering, or other financial crimes. According to the outlet, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent went to New York City to meet with Goldman Sachs Chairman and CEO David Solomon. They discussed how Singham has been moving his funds with use of the philanthropic arm of Goldman Sachs.

Bessent reportedly delivered an ultimatum in the meeting, saying that Goldman Sachs could face scrutiny in the investigations regarding Singham's activities if they do not comply with federal authorities. Solomon reportedly pledged to cooperate, per Fox News.

Singham has openly supported what he calls a "new world order" that would be supported by and promoted by the Chinese Communist Party and President Xi Jinping during a 2025 speech at the Golden Tulip Hotel. During the speech, he said the US was "fascist" and echoed other socialist talking points.

The DOJ investigation comes after far-left streamer Hasan Piker identified Singham as backing Piker's trip to Cuba, which the streamer is under investigation for himself. Piker said after the investigation was launched into him that he believed the real target of the Trump administration was Sigham.

"I think that ultimately the target is probably Singham," Piker said during a stream after he was subpoenaed, "and his operation, from PSL [Party for Socialism and Liberation] to Answer Coalition to Code Pink, like anything that he has ever financed, and it's not new, it's been around for a while, but it's obviously, it's held through regardless, because like, it's ridiculous, right? It's like totally f*cking ridiculous to try to you know, to try and stop like the political advocacy of an American citizen."
