Doug Emhoff's former colleagues claim he was ‘misogynistic,' hired 'unqualified,' 'attractive' part-time model as law firm secretary: report

"He's an as*hole. He told them how he ‘put her in her place.’ A misogynist, that's who does that.”

The husband of Kamala Harris was described as a sexist and obnoxious by his former colleagues at his Los Angeles law firm, Venable. Other lawyers and staff say Doug Emhoff loudly cursed office workers, had office parties where only men were invited, was vindictive towards female staff who rejected his advances and hired pretty assistants who weren’t qualified for the job at the office, the Daily Mail reported Tuesday.

Other stories are surfacing, including an allegation that he slapped a former girlfriend. The allegations fly in the face of the new image that Emhoff and Democratic-supporting media have tailored, depicting the second gentleman as being supportive of women. The Washington Post has called him a “modern day sex symbol” and he sat for a hagiographic interview with MSNBC host and former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki where he was lauded as being a “wife guy.”

Emhoff has also admitted to cheating on his first wife while he impregnated his children’s nanny, the Mail noted. Now more alleged dirt is being reported from the law office where he is supposedly remembered as being a tireless “as*hole” who allegedly would flirt with many women.

Emhoff’s accusers have wished to remain anonymous, citing fears of retaliation from the husband of the vice president. One former senior staff member said Emhoff “bragged” after he told a female law partner at the firm to “get the f*ck” out of my office.” The source told the Mail, “'What's worse was he bragged about it to the management at Venable and they were aghast. He's an as*hole. He told them how he ‘put her in her place.’ A misogynist, that's who does that.”

A former Venable female lawyer said Emhoff was “very flirty” and expected his targets to reciprocate. If women weren’t forthcoming, she said Emhoff would put them on his “sh*t list.”

Some of this alleged behavior apparently didn’t remain inside of the law firm as a former legal secretary at Venable, Marjan Rabbi, sued the firm and two of its partners in 2019 over alleged sexual discrimination. Emhoff was not included in the lawsuit but was mentioned in Rabbi’s complaint, according to the Mail.

The LA court filing, obtained by the Mail, said Emhoff had hired a young and pretty secretary who was “unqualified” for legal work but “hired because she was young, attractive and friendly with the powerful men in the office.”
