Famous tech mogul Elon Musk demonstrated his support for the right to bear arms once again when he defended the notion of a nation having an armed populace.

"As tragic as the mass-shootings are, armed citizens are essential to the defense of democracy," Musk wrote on X in response to a post that discussed numerous examples of events in the US throughout the past three years that may push a person to purchase a firearm.

This is not the first time Musk has publicly proclaimed his support for the Second Amendment. During an interview in May 2022, he stated that he "strongly believe[s] that the right to bear arms is an important safeguard against potential tyranny of government." Musk also pointed out that many leaders in world history "did not allow publish ownership of guns" because they were interested in "maintaining their power over the people."

These comments by Musk were made in the aftermath of a gruesome mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. While Musk argued there is a need for stricter background checks, he maintained that the Second Amendment is essential nonetheless.

He also criticized the media at the time, and asked "Why is the media doing exactly what the mass murderers want?" Musk also said people who shoot up schools and other places "are obviously doing this to generate the most amount of attention possible."

More recently, Musk shared a meme on Twitter in May of this year that also appeared to back the Second Amendment.

"The First Amendment is for sharing memes with frens [friends]," reads one of two captions in the meme.

"The Second Amendment is for when they try and stop me from sharing memes with frens," the other says below.

Musk also famously posted a bedside table photo that featured of pair of guns. Both, however, were non-firing, per a report by the New York Post
