On Saturday, X owner Elon Musk attended the Atreju festival in Rome, hosted by conservative leader Giorgia Meloni, and warned them to not import the "woke mind virus" from America.

In an interview, Musk said, "Please don't import the woke mind virus. It's bad." He summarized it as "creating very, very divisive identity politics."

"Woke mind virus, in my view, amplifies racism amplifies frankly sexism and all the isms," Musk continued. "And what while claiming to do the opposite it actually divides people and makes them sort of hate each other and it makes people hate themselves."

Musk later noted that the woke mind virus is "not fun" because "the virus is all about condemning people instead of celebrating people."

"It's all about condemning and being divisive and being just I think it's just evil frankly... it's bad," Musk concluded.

According to Euronews, the Atreju festival is a 4-day Christmas party to celebrate Italy's conservative youth. It was started by Meloni in 1998 when she was the head of the Rome branch of the Azione Giovani youth organization.

Professor of Italian Studies at the University of New Hampshire in the US, Piero Garofalo, said the event has grown in importance as its previous attendees include Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Donald Trump adviser Steve Bannon.

In an October interview with Joe Rogan, Musk blamed the "mind virus" being spread far and wide by the woke left for the zombification of San Fransisco. He said, "A philosophy that would ordinarily be quite niche, and ideologically constrained so that the fallout area would be limited, was effectively given an information weapon ... to propagate what is essentially a mind virus to the rest of Earth." Musk deemed it "the end of civilization."

In a 2021 interview with Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon, Musk said the "woke mind virus" was "arguably one of the biggest threats to modern civilization."
